You are welcome.

Siempre me trae buenos recuerdos.

I am not having the best of times or luck lately. Starting with this poor abandoned blog that, although not many people see it, it helps me escape to moments where its best to avoid reality. They always say that in the good old days it was better, so with that in mind I will recover some photos of my dear Portugal. They always seem to bring good memories.

Time stops.

//

I always feel that I take a leap back in time when I find my self in Portugal. Reality hits you as you walk its streets and are amongst its people. Maybe its that dramatic quality that makes me feel right at home.

A walk to Portugal.

//

Im sure that the connection that I have to this country is because of the closeness to the village where I spent the summers of my childhood. Paths, now more visible, that I once raced through on my bike. Crossing the bridge without looking down and finding, right next to the path, a stone that purpose was to mark the imaginary line between the two borders. On the stone was marked a E for España and a P for Portugal depending on which side of the stone you found yourself. Nowadays the stone can be found half hidden on the side of a paved road. The times have changed and I am nostalgic.

The second step.

Sometimes the best way to disconnect is to go right back to the beginning. Traveling along roads that have always helped me to find moments of clarity. On this occasion, crossing the country from east to the west was the very excuse that I needed to straighten out those different paths I have in my life. The first step is to leave behind that awful low self esteem that seems to follow me everywhere I go and with that in mind I will soon be going onto my second step: A project in print.

3 months left.

//

Today marks exactly 3 months until I get to enjoy some very much needed holidays. It seems like an eternity, especially seeing everyone around you jetting off enjoying their breaks makes it feel like mine are very distant. However, it is worth the wait as it is confirmed that I will return to one of my favourite, if not the most favourite, countries. If there is just one thing that I don't like about Portugal it is not getting to visit it.

Funchal. The Capital.

No cambies nunca.

//

I can not shake the feeling of being trapped in time. Childhood memories fragmented, only to reappear in a country that has maintained the essence of what is authentic. Nostalgia blessing the surrounding streets and people. Don't ever change.

Madeira. Walking around.

//

I can not deny that I have a weakness for this country. The more I visit Portugal, the more I have to go back. When I travel I like to escape the "tourists" and get closer to the what is the local experience. To get to know, within a limited time constraint, the real life that people have and not what is put on for show.

Madeira. Landscape.

//

An island to rediscover oneself. The ease of escaping the urban life and putting yourself at the mercy of nature. To explore its landscapes, mostly still predominant at the hand of man. An idyllic place to unwind, however I missed not having a bike to challenge those endless sloping hills.
